Meet our Treasurer, Christopher B. Benham
Mr. Benham is currently the Vice President-Special Projects for NSI Consulting and Development, Inc., a privately held company specializing in providing targeted corporate real estate services to large land owning entities with a special focus on the electric utility market. Services include consultative assistance with mergers and acquisitions, organizational effectiveness analysis and design, data management process modernization and strategic planning. Mr. Benham’s focus has been on business development, acquisitions and strategic planning.
Mr. Benham has held senior leadership positions in both private and public corporations including President and Chief Executive Officer for Imperial Manufacturing Group (IMG). IMG provides precision machined metal components to the defense and commercial aviation markets with plant locations in the Dallas-Fort Worth area and Wichita , Kansas . IMG held significant Department of Defense “source approvals” for safety of flight components for the majority of the U.S. military’s helicopter fleet. Mr. Benham also led the acquisition team that successfully acquired two precision machining companies within a twelve month period that doubled the gross sales of IMG.
Mr. Benham was recruited for the position of Vice President of Marketing and Sales for AAR Composites, a principal supplier of advanced polymeric composite structures and metal bonded components for defense and commercial aviation applications, transportation markets and the international business jet market. As a key member of the General Managers Team, he spearheaded business growth by expanding product offerings and the customer base both nationally and internationally. Products include interior structures for the Boeing Business Jet, flare canisters for U.S. Military aircraft, flap track fairings for the Airbus A-330 commercial jet and monorail car bodies for Bombardier.
As part of the corporate marketing staff for Brunswick Defense, Mr. Benham was the Director of Military Marketing for a five plant highly diversified manufacturing group serving commercial and defense markets. Brunswick Defense, now owned by General Dynamics, is a leadin g man ufacturer of metal bonded structures and advanced polymeric structures and components. Products include relocatable shelters made of metal face sheets bonded to a lightweight honeycomb substrate, high performance radomes for the F-14, F-16, F/A-18, AV8B, C-130, C-5, external fuel tanks for the Blackhawk helicopter and F/A-18, Tactical Air Launch Decoy (TALD), chemical defense detectors and camouflage netting.
Additional positions include:
- Senior Manufacturing Engineer, Product Development Manager and acquisition team member for the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle strategic business unit of General Dynamics
- Engineering Manager and Business Development Manager for Grace Composites, a Unit of W.R. Grace, Inc., with responsibilities for a two-plant consolidation initiative while maintaining uninterrupted service for ballistic components used on the up-armored variant of the High Mobility Multi-Purpose Wheeled Vehicle (Hummer), polymer composite submarine mast fairings and towed array sonar buoys for the U.S. Navy and close tolerance machined composite bushings and washers used in the GE CF6-80 jet engine
- Plant Manager for Creative Manufacturing, Inc., with plant startup and pilot run responsibilities for the fabrication and assembly of the ambulance variant of the “Hummer” military vehicle, and Program Manager for multiple projects including the design, fabrication and assembly of the prototypes and pre-production body units of the aluminum body for the “Hummer” for AM General, core cowl tooling for the GE CF6-80 jet engine for Rohr Industries, and precision machined metal components for Northrop-Grumman Aerospace used in close tolerance assembly fixtures.
Mr. Benham has numerous industry memberships including: The Society of Manufacturing Engineers, Society for the Advancement of Manufacturing and Process Engineering, The Navy League, The Air Force Association, Army Aviation Association of America, Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association and The Association of the United States Army.
Mr. Benham graduated with honors from the United States Military Academy at West Point with a Bachelor of Science Degree in engineering and later was awarded an Executive Master of Business Administration degree from Averett College . He served with distinction as a commissioned officer in the U.S, Army Corps of Engineers with a secondary specialty as an Army helicopter pilot.
